Experience Living on a College Campus

  • Spend 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. learning from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox faculty and current students, then immerse yourself in college living with evening activities and access to our newest residential facilities

  • Enjoy basketball, volleyball, badminton and rock climbing in our beautiful new recreation center, as well as outdoor activities and a worship night in our outdoor amphitheater

Students who attend a Pre-College Summer Program are guaranteed an annual $1,000 scholarship* when they enroll as an undergraduate student at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox University. If you love your summer experience living and learning at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox, we invite you to become a Bruin!

* Students may qualify for one Visit Experience Scholarship at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox. If you have already received a Visit Experience Scholarship, you will not receive an additional award for the Summer Institute.

Bio lab

Exploring Biotechnology

Learn the basics of biotechnology. Find out how it works and explore the implications – where will this technology take us? And what are the ethical implications? With an understanding of the basic tools of molecular biology, head into the laboratory where you’ll test agricultural products for genetic modification. You’ll use CRISPR technology to modify the genome of E. coli to produce an effect visible to the naked eye.

Facility Highlights

  • Canyon Commons: This 30,000-square-foot facility features large windows overlooking Hess Creek Canyon, known for its local flora and peaceful walking trails. Inside the facility’s scenic surroundings are honored through the use of wooden-beam construction and expansive skylights designed to mimic the effect of sunlight filtering through tree branches.
  • Hadlock Student Center: The Hadlock Student Center features a fitness center overlooking Hess Creek Canyon, three full multi-use courts, a rock climbing wall, an indoor track and two private fitness studios.
  • Maker Hub: The Maker Hub is the university’s space for design, prototyping and fabrication – it’s an engineer’s dream. While the 16,000-square-foot facility features a CNC router and milling machine, welding shop, circuit board fabrication lab and more.
  • The Canyon: Hess Creek Canyon runs through the center of campus, offering students 15 acres of lush green space filled with native Northwest flora and intersected by a meandering creek. 

FAQ

With the exception of the Liberation Scholars, the Pre-College Summer Programs cost $1,700 per student. This includes a week of immersive college-level courses taught by ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox faculty, convenient on-campus lodging, three meals per day in the dining hall, and evening programming. Discounts are available for students from partner schools and children of alumni.
Yes! You can earn one to two college credits, depending on the course.
Students will stay in ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox’s on-campus residence halls. Residence halls feature two-person rooms with shared bathrooms and are accessible only with key-card access. There are separate wings for men and women.
High school students who are going into 10th grade through students who graduated 12th grade can attend this camp.
You can make a deposit of $200 to secure your spot. The rest of the payment is due on June 1, 2024.
Students are assigned 2-4 per room depending on the number of beds in the room. Males and females are separated into different residence halls or different floors with staff of the same gender staying in the residence halls for supervision. Roommate requests must be received no later than 10 days before the start of camp. Students without a roommate request will be assigned to rooms by age and academic concentration.
ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox University partners with Bon Appetit for campus food service. The kitchen is skilled at accommodating most dietary requests. If you have dietary restrictions, please let us know upon registration to allow our chef time to stock proper ingredients.
Evening activities will include activities such as Hadlock Center Rec Night with dodgeball, volleyball, and rock climbing; Swim Night at Chehalem Aquatic Center; Movie Night in the Amphitheatre; Worship Night; and Adventure Games.
ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fox does not provide transportation to the Summer Institute. Students are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. For liability reasons, students should not bring their own car.
At this time, we have not secured any donors for scholarships, but we are definitely on the lookout for individuals or organizations that would be interested in donating to our scholarship fund. If you have registered and would like to cancel your registration, cancellations can be made up until the start of camp. If you'd like to request a refund, please email arichards@georgefox.edu. All cancellations made after June 1st are subject to a $50 processing fee.
